Screening Information and Dates

Information about our screenings:

Our 14 annual Sunday afternoon screenings are an access point to the services we provide. By conducting most of our screenings at churches with Hispanic congregations, we are making our services accessible to our target patient group. Starting at 1:30, our screenings see a maximum of 50 people per afternoon and are staffed by volunteers. After being served at a screening, patients are then individually evaluated and referred to the proper resource.

Patients attending a screening may receive the following:

1. Non-invasive dental exam by a dentist to assess overall dental health and needs
2. Vision services provided by a vision professional
3. Instructions on how to receive glasses
4. Vision Safety Education including information about protecting your eyes, as well as free safety glasses
5. Dental Hygiene Education including instruction on how to properly care for your teeth and nutrition tips for healthy teeth. Also, we distribute free toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and egg timers
6. Nutrition Education including instruction on how to read the food pyramid and food labels
7. High Blood Pressure Screening with referral for follow up care as needed
